Photo of Joe Cornish

Photographer Joe Cornish, despite his name, was born in Devon. Joe started freelancing for the National Trust in 1988 and continues to shoot assignments for them to this day. Photographing landscapes has led to years of close encounters with nature, leaving him convinced of the need to reconnect people with the natural world.

Books are the heart of Joe’s photographic output. First Light: A Landscape Photographer’s Art, is widely recognised as one of the best-loved landscape photography books of the modern era. His training in fine art and experience assisting commercial photographers in Washington and London, have helped Joe bring together the worlds of fine art and photography, and in recent years he has had major exhibitions with several high-profile British painters.

His enthusiasm for describing and exploring how pictures work has informed his own post-production methods, and made him a popular speaker and workshop leader. He has been a judge on Wildlife Photographer of the Year and is also on the Royal Photographic Society distinctions panel.
