Dorset
Reunion weekend!
Friday 16 - Sunday 18 November 2007 (3 days)
Friday 8 - Sunday 10 February 2008 (3 days)
Join us down in Dorset for a cracking early winter weekend of birdwatching, and tales of our trips both near and far!
Click here for details of the South West Optics Event held this weekend at the Heights Hotel!
On one day we'll charter a boat for a trip around Poole Harbour and on to Brownsea Island - usually closed to all except groups like ours in the winter - for superb views of what is now the largest Avocet flock in Britain, plus waders and wildfowl galore, as well as the endemic Red Squirrels. Next day we'll spend around the Weymouth area, on Portland and along the Fleet, with good numbers of wildfowl that last year included a fabulous Red-breasted Goose! Late migrants like Redwing and Goldcrest are also very much on the move. There is also a chance of a late rarity - a wintering Yellow-browed Warbler was seen well by all on one of the last weekends...
In the evenings well be looking at slides and hearing talks from members of our leadership team.
