JDM records:

2003 - A single on 21 Mar was the earliest recorded. Noted to 2 May, with 31 bird-days on 10 dates a low total. Max 14 on 21 Apr. Return passage noted from 31 Jul, and was relatively better: 39 bird-days on 12 dates until 13 Sep, with max 6 on 31 Jul. 70 bird-days total. Monthly maxima show the usual pattern:

2002 - Numbers generally down on last year, but noted on more days. Noted from 30 Mar, the earliest recorded, to 7 May, with 97 bird-days on 21 dates. Max 15 on 15 Apr. On return passage noted from 26 July. Then 36 bird-days on 16 dates until 30 Sep, with max 6 on 11 Aug.

2001 - An excellent spring passage. Noted from 31 Mar, the earliest recorded, to 11 May, with 126 bird-days on 11 dates. Max 25 on 1 Apr. On return passage noted from 27 July. Then 59 bird-days on 16 dates until 20 Oct, the latest on record, with max 22 on 25 Aug.

2000 - Noted from 10 Apr, the earliest recorded, to 11 May, with 46 bird-days on 13 dates. Max 20 on 19 Apr. On return passage noted from 22 July, when 2 birds seen feeding a juv. - presumably having bred not too far away. Then 64 bird-days on 18 dates until 22 Sep. An intriguing report of one on 4 Dec would be the latest date recorded.

1985 - Spring passage from 17 Apr to 10 May, with 125 bird-days, max 33 on 25 Apr. In autumn, three on 11 Sep, four on 12th and one on 26th were the only recorded.

1984 - Spring passage from 10 Apr, with max 14 on 11 Apr.

1983 - Spring passage 25 Apr - 13 May , with max 15 on 28 Apr. Return passage 26 Jul - 6 Sep, max 10 on 23 Aug, but no attempt to distinguish from Chiffchaff in the overlap periods.

1982 - Positive records 26 & 28 Apr, 16 & 18 Sep, but no attempt to distinguish from Chiffchaff in the overlap periods.
