JDM records :

2003: Once again suspected of breeding but not proven - present all summer and frequenting bushes on the Nothe Fort walls. Birds seen with nesting material on 22 Apr. First single on 15 Mar, then present almost continuously from 29 Mar to 28 Aug, and thereafter sporadically until the final two on 13 Nov. Nos lower in spring than 2002, but quite a good, protracted autumn passage. Max 33 on 4 Oct. Monthly maxima :

2002: Suspected of breeding - present all summer and frequenting bushes on the Nothe Fort walls. Two singing males present on several dates, and birds seen with nesting material on 17 Apr and 19 May. First single on 21 Mar, then present almost continuously from 31 Mar to 26 Aug, and thereafter sporadically until the final four on 11 Nov. Nos higher in spring than 2001, but generally lower in autumn, except for two days : record max 76 on 11 Oct and another high count of 46 on 30 Oct. Monthly maxima :

2001 : Suspected of breeding - present all summer and frequenting bushes on the Nothe Fort walls. Seen with nesting material on 29 Apr.Present almost continuously from 31 Mar to 22 Aug, and thereafter sporadically until 27 Oct. Nos very similar to 2000, but with more on passage in autumn. Max 20 on 22 Oct. Monthly maxima :

2000 - Suspected of breeding - present all summer and frequenting bushes on the Nothe Fort walls. Present almost continuously from 28 Mar to 17 Aug, and thereafter sporadically until 4 Nov. Max 10 on 15 Apr, 26 & 29 July. Monthly maxima :

1999 - Two in autumn on 3 Nov 1999.

1985 - 4 on 14 Jan 1985. Spring 8 bird-days: max 5 on 18 Apr, singles on 23 & 26 Apr and 1 may 1985. Autumn records parallelling Siskin & Redpoll: 29 bird-days, 5 on 27 Sep, 3 on 11 Oct, max 13 on 14 Oct and 8 on 18 Oct 1985.

1984 - None in spring. Just one in autumn on 16 Oct 1984.

1983 - Spring 4 bird-days: 1 on 21 Mar, max 2 on - 24 Apr 1983. Autumn 28 bird-days: Record max 22 on 6 Oct, 2 on 2 Nov, and 2 on 14 Nov 1983.

1982 - Just two early records, on 10 and 25 January 1982 following snow; in autumn, 9 bird-days, with max 6 on 6 Oct and 3 on 1 Nov 1982.
