JDM Records

2002 - Recorded daily. A pair was observed carrying nesting material to a chimney stack on the Coastguard Cottages on 5 May, having settled there for a couple of weeks, but no further breeding activity was seen - a possible future breeding species?

1998 - 1000 around a fish factory ship in Feb.

1997 - Weymouth Bay : 100 on 15 and 1200 on 21 Feb. In autumn a count of birds flying past the Nothe to roost on the breakwater reached an impressive 6962.

1996 - Weymouth Bay : c900 on 23 Jan; 750+ on 15 Mar.

1995 - Weymouth Bay : c350 on 5 Feb; c450 on 11 Mar; c1200 on 6 Dec.

1994 - Weymouth Bay/Portland Harbour Max 3267 on 9 Sep.

1993 - Weymouth Bay : BTO count 840 on 23/24/Jan

1991 - Weymouth Bay several hundred on 1 Oct.

1989 - 1864 flying to roost past The Nothe, 23 Oct.
