JDM records

2003 - Noted on 32 dates, 11 Jan to 3 Dec - very similar nos to last year. Once again many more records in summer and autumn, when present most days along the south shore. As the new walkway opened in August, the effect of the extra disturbance was surprisingly low - nor was there any increase in the early part of the year when the seawall works closed off the south shore. Max a flock of five going north on 8 Feb.

2002 - Noted on 30 dates, 10 Jan to 31 Oct. Has benefited greatly from the lack of disturbance along Newton's Cove as the seawall works have closed off the area to dog-walkers. Usual autumn max, 7 on 3 Oct.

2001 - Noted on 9 dates: on 1 Jan, then not again until 4 June, and not after 28 Sep, when there was a year max of three. However locals tell me that they regularly feed in the evenings.

2000 - Noted 31 days from 13 Mar to end of the year. Year and record max 7 flying N on 15 Oct.

1985 - Noted on 10 dates: 3 days in Jan, then not again until 8 May, up till Oct 25. All singles.

1984 - Singles noted on 8 dates: 4 days in Jan, then not again until 15 Oct, two dates in Nov and 13 Dec.

1983 - 21 bird-days on 13 dates from 13 Jan - 24 Nov, max 5 on 6 Oct. Monthly maxima as follows:
