Compilation of records each year:

2003 - The increase in records continues. None in the early part of the year, and no sign of breeding on site, but for the second year running juvs were recorded, on 16 Jun, with a gap then until 7 Aug, from which date birds were more or less continuously present until 5 Dec - probably the longest presence yet. A record 56 bird-days in total (19 in 2000; 11 in 2001; 33 in 2002).

2002 - The increase in records continues. One on 9 Jan was followed by 2 on 17 Mar, with one still present on 19 Mar. For the first time juvs were recorded, first on 18 Jun, with birds more or less continuously present until 1 Sep. Evidently breeding took place in the area, if not actually on site. No autumn records. 33 bird-days in total.

2001 - One on 1 and 14 Jan was an unusual winter record. A bird on 7 July and possibly the same one on 24 July mirrored last year's unprecedented summer record. In autumn recorded on 5 dates from 12 to 30 Oct, max 3 on 22 Oct. 11 bird-days in total, compared with 19 last year.

This species is showing a definite increase, with birds dispersing from local breeding areas adding to the more usual autumn influx, although none stayed long this year.

2000 - One continuously present 3 July to 21 October was unexpected: the first recorded in summer, and the longest-stayer ever recorded. It reappeared 1 Jan 2001.

1996 - One on 14, two on 15 and two on 22 Oct (JS).

1989 - One on 31 Oct (JS).

1985 - A major but brief autumn influx. One on 20 Sep was followed by 4 on 24th, 13 on 26th, three on 27th, with an astonishing 24 present on 9 Oct. 45 bird-days!

1983 - A flock of three on 12 Oct was the first record for the site.
