Mammals

Grey Squirrel Sciurus carolinensis : Present all year. Monthly maxima as follows:

Brown Rat Rattus norvegicus: Present all year, but not often seen. Singles noted in Jan, May, July, Sep. Oct and Nov.

Fish

Whiting Trisopterus luscus: Caught off the Stone Pier 16 Sep.

Butterflies

Large White Pieris brassicae: Noted 11 - 20 Sep. Max 13 on 16 Sep.

Small White Artogeia rapae : Noted from the very early date of 12 Mar to 20 Sep. Max 8 on 16 Sep.

Clouded Yellow Colias croceus: Two on 16 Sep. An impressive max 10 on 20 Sep followed by one on 30 Sep and two, including a helice form, on 6 Oct. with the last one on 26 Oct. An excellent series of records in an invasion year, and my first records for The Nothe.

Peacock Inachis io: Single noted 5 May.

Red Admiral Vanessa atalanta: Noted 11 Sep - 4 Nov. Max 12 on 16 Sep.

Painted Lady Vanessa cardui: A good year. Noted 23 Aug - 23 Sep; max 4 on 23 Aug and 20 Sep.

Small Tortoiseshell Aglais urticae: One on 16 and two on 20 Sep.

Comma Polygonum c-album: One on 20 Sep.

Gatekeeper Pyronia tithonus: Single on 31 July.

Speckled Wood Pararge aegeria: Noted 29 Apr - 4 Nov. Max 2 on several dates.

Moths

Rush Veneer Nomophila noctuella: Noted 14 Sep - 6 Oct. Max 2 on several dates.

Canary-shouldered Thorn Ennomos alniaria: One on 19 Sep.

Large Yellow Underwing Noctua pronuba: One on 13 Sep amd max 2 on 14 Sep.

Lunar Underwing Omphaloscelis lunosa: Noted from 23 Sep - 15 Oct. Max 4 on 25 Sep.

L-album Wainscot Mythimna l-album: A pleasing record of this migrant on 19 Sep.

Flounced Rustic Luperina testacea: Noted 13 - 23 Sep. Max 9 on 17 Sep.

Silver Y Autographa gamma: One on 16 Sep.

Orthoptera

Long-winged Conehead Conocephalus discolor: Seen in a very small area at the west end of the southern slopes, 30 Sep and 6 Oct.

Dark Bush-cricket Pholidoptera griseoaptera: Adults noted calling from 25 Aug - 30 Oct.

Meadow Grasshopper Chorthippus parallellus: Abundant, especially on S. slopes. Adults noted 18 July - 26 Oct.

Common Green Grasshopper Omocestus viridulus: Noted on 30 Sep.

Dragonflies

Southern Hawker Aeshna cyanea: One on 28 Sep.

Common Darter Sympetrum striolatum: One on 6 Oct.
